Easy Steps to Apply for Police Clearance Certificate India

Have you completed 5 years in the foreign firm abroad? Yes!
What now?
You spent such a long time while discharging your services abroad dedicatedly. The resident country’s government has a provision to offer permanent resident status. The immigrant becomes eligible to apply for the immigrant visa or non-immigrant visa.

Visa Application with Immigration Authority

The visa process begins with an application for the same. Any family member or the foreign employer can file the petition with the immigration authority. Let’s say a doctor in the US wants to seek this grant. He himself or his family member can apply to the US Citizenship & Immigration Services (USCIS). The latter looks into the immigration matters.

Facing Interview at Consul Office:
The immigration office verifies and entrusts it to the respective embassy. Let’s continue with the aforementioned example. The doctor living in the US gets notification from the USCIS that his application is forwarded to the US consulate.

Subsequently, he receives an appointment letter and a list of what to do and the list of documents. The date of the scheduled interview will be mentioned in the letter.

Make a Bunch of All Documents:
You should read all the instructions clearly to avoid any kind of hassle at the consulate. You must come along these documents:
·Birth Certificate
·CENOMAR or Bachelorhood Certificate (if bachelor)
·Marriage Certificate
·Evidence of financial support
·Police Clearance Certificate

1 Step: From where & when should you get it?
·At the time of visa appointment: Two conditions are required to fulfill at the time of appointment. First, the immigrant should be 16 or more by age. Second, six months should be passed prior to submission of visa application.

If the applicant meets both conditions, he/she should get the PCC from the district police station and the passport office.
If the applicant is less than 16 years of age and has gotten a passport in less than six months, he/she needs to get it from the passport office only.

·At the time of applying for the change of status: Bear in mind that you need not apply for the same if you apply for the Change of Status (it is basically an application form, i.e. Adjustment of Status I-485, to be applied after getting married to the US citizen). This is so because you’re already living in that country.

If you’re living outside the country of which you want to obtain permanent citizenship, then you would need it. Otherwise, the mandatory formality of the Change of Status would be incomplete. And your application might be rejected. In this situation, you have to get it from the passport office as well as the district police station of the resident country.

2 Step: Apply for Police Clearance Certificate (PCC):
You can apply online if you want to apply at the district police station. The method of how to apply for police clearance certificate in India and abroad is briefed below.
It is mandatory to submit this certificate at the immigration office. However, you would submit it at your first visit. But when you apply for the immigrant visa, you have to submit its new version.

What is Police Clearance Certificate (PCC)?
It is a proof stating the immigrant possesses no criminal background. The passport authority and police authority issue it while mentioning the duration of his/her residency in that locality. If the applicant was ever detained, this certificate states it along with the nature of the crime.

Till how many days is it valid?
Every country has its own rule. A few nations like the US expires its new copy annually. But some of them require it just once at the time of seeking immigrant visa.

Why is police verification proof required?
To check the citizenship:It determines the citizenship of the immigrant.
To detect the criminal background: It tells whether or not the immigrant was indulged in any kind of crime.
To identify the age group: The immigration authority, especially USCIS, seek this verification certificate from every 16 or 16 years old individual.
To determine the marital status: It also reads the marital status that helps is identifying whether or not the person is married.

2 Step: Attach the Documents with the Application:
If you visit in-person, you need to carry all these along. And if you fill the online application, you can upload the scanned copy of all these:
Which documents should be attached to the police clearance application?
·Old passport with self-attestation of the first two and last two pages
·Present residential proof (if changes in one year)
·Self-attested copy of the employment contract
·Photocopy of visa along with the English its transcript (if it’s in other than English )
·Sponsorship declaration of the provider

3 Step: From where do you get it & why?
You need to visit the office of the given authorities according to the requirement. All requirements are already mentioned in the step 1 above.

# District police station
# Passport office
# Consulate

4 Step: What’s its processing time?
The processing of yourPCC applicationtakes different time at these offices.
·From the passport office:It takes a day. But if there are some rectifications, it may be a lengthy process.
·From the consulate:It may take around seven days. But the processing period may be a bit long.
·From the district police station:The district police office takes approximately 7 days to deliver this certificate. But if the verification process stretches, that period goes long.
