Student of Btech in energy technology LLB specialized in IPR (2011-2017) from UPES, DEHRADUN

IPR Knowledge at the Door Itself

In Intellectual era, India has shown a substantial growth in its research and development. The presence of well-established R&D and various labs of companies in the country have clearly proved the Indian Intellectual Property (IP) status in the world. But this growth is from the some part or developed companies, who have the Knowledge of IP protection. However, many people are still unaware about IPR and their advantages in taking rights for their intellectual property. Therefore, this awareness of IPR can make the huge growth in Indian economy and it will be the clear impact of IP influence in the country.

Present Situation:
In India lots of patent applications are filed by the developed companies, Pharmaceutical industries and other industries. But very few filed by the small companies, individual inventors and students who are continuing their graduate course in different fields like engineering, pharmacy, management, arts, agriculture, designing, etc. It doesn’t mean that they are not having any innovative idea or intellectual brain; but though they have lots of ideas, they make many innovative inventions, but they are not aware, how to take benefit of that innovative invention or idea or how to protect rights for their innovation. And some idea is getting waste or adapted by others and becomes common.

Some of the students are very happy by making their invention and getting marks, but they are ignoring their huge profits, which they can get from IP protection. It is also seen that, some of the students after completing their graduation changing their field, but they are not getting confidence in their field. And this all is lacking in development and growth of our country.

How IPR will Benefit:
If the people will have knowledge and awareness about the IPR and its policies at the time itself, they can make use of their innovative ideas and inventions and will get benefit and a huge profit at that very time itself. By this, other students will be motivated and they will start to work in their own field or at least they will try to work on that. And there will be no chance of getting ideas unimplemented. There will huge competition between the students, by targeting the benefit which they will get from the IP protection. They don’t have to change their field; they can continue their further study and make use of their inventions or idea. This will give economic benefit for the student and the inventor. These inventions will give huge scope for our Research labs. By this, there will growth and development of the state and through state our country will grow economically and intellectually.

To aid the innovators to protect their intellectual property, Government is also providing subsidies for the students to get a patent. After getting patent, Patent holder can give permission to someone to use their invention by granting license and in return they can ask for royalties.

How to spread awareness of IPR

At the time of graduation, students are studying many subjects, at the same time they should study at least one subject, which gives the brief introduction of IPR and how it can help them in their field. So this can make them aware and motivated to do well in their graduation and they can get patent, copyright or other IP protection to their innovative idea and inventions. By this student will be boosted up and make themselves to work at the time itself. And this will make benefit to their future and for the future of our developing Nation.

Therefore, this will make our new generation to be aware about IPR, as all intellectual brains are passing through the door i.e. graduating institution. And for our present generation, training program should be conducted at various institutes, industries, R&D and research centre for the awareness of IPR, so this can provide opportunities to them to be protected and get benefit. So by this our future as well as our present generation would be aware about IPR and this will make a huge impact in growth and development of our country as well as to its economy.

So it can be said that, if the Indian Flag is given at the door of the stadium, the Flag will shine in the whole stadium and stadium will shine all over the world.

Here the Flag is IPR knowledge, door is graduate course and the stadium is our Nation.
