The present article deals with various categories on basis of which compensation was disbursed to the victims of Bhopal Gas Tragedy Case. On 2nd/3rd December, 1984 there was sudden leakage of a lethal gas Methyl Iso-cyanate which was stored in the Union Carbide Corporation Plant situated in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. This leakage resulted into death of approx. 5600 persons and more than approx. six lac people have suffered injuries and various ailments. This article also reflects the detailed structure and functioning of Office Of The Welfare Commissioner, Bhopal Gas Victims, which was established for adjudicating the claims and disbursing the compensation to the victims, under the Bhopal Gas Leak Disaster (Processing of Claims) Act, 1985 enacted by the Parliament.
